Preparing a “vitamin water” to promote plant growth and flowering can be a simple task using natural ingredients.
Ingredients:
- Water: Use chlorine-free water, either rainwater or water left to sit for at least 24 hours to allow the chlorine to evaporate.
- Compost tea (optional): Prepare a compost tea by boiling water and adding organic compost. Then, let the water cool before using it.
- Seaweed extract: Seaweed is rich in nutrients and minerals essential for plant growth. You can find seaweed extract at garden stores or online. Add about 1-2 tablespoons per gallon of water.
Baking soda: Add a small amount of baking soda to adjust the pH of the water slightly. A quarter teaspoon per gallon of water should be enough.
Sugar: Add a teaspoon of sugar per gallon of water. Sugar will provide additional energy to the beneficial bacteria in the soil.
Instructions:
Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl, making sure to dissolve the seaweed extract and baking soda well.
Let the mixture sit for at least 24 hours to allow the ingredients to mix and break down properly.
Filter the mixture to remove any solid residue before use.
How to use:
Water your plants with this vitamin water once a week or every two weeks. Make sure you don’t overdo it, as too much nutrients can also be harmful to plants.
