Threading a sewing needle can be a tedious task, especially when the eyesight is no longer the same as it used to be or the thread resists passing through the eye of the needle. However, there is a little-known trick that makes this task much easier by using a simple clothing clip.

In this article, I will explain step by step how to thread a needle in the easiest way with the help of a few items that you surely already have at home.
How to thread a needle very easily
To do so, you’ll need:
Materials Needed
- A clothespin or clip
- Instant glue
- A piece of bronze wire (you can recycle it from a wire you no longer use)
Procedure
- Prepare the Bronze Thread:
- Take a piece of bronze thread about 10 cm long. This thread can be easily obtained from any old cord you have at home. Simply remove the plastic coating and remove one of the internal threads.
- Form the Threader:
- Fold the bronze thread in half, creating a small loop at one end. Make sure the loop is small enough to fit easily through the eye of the needle, but large enough that you can thread the sewing thread through it.
- Attach the Threader to the Brooch:
- Open the clothing clip and place the end of the bent bronze thread in the center of the clasp so that it is secured when the clasp is closed.
- Use a drop of instant glue to attach the bronze thread to the clasp, making sure that the loop is free and sticks out of the clasp. Let the glue dry completely before using it.
- Threading the Needle:
- Insert the loop of the bronze thread through the eye of the needle. This loop should pass easily due to its rigidity and suitable size.
- Thread the sewing thread through the bow of the bronze thread. Now, simply pull the clasp back, dragging the sewing thread through the eye of the needle.
Additional Tips
- Keep the Brooch in Good Condition: Make sure the bronze thread is securely secured to the clasp to prevent it from coming loose during use.
- Adjust the Bow Size: If the bronze thread loop is too big or small, adjust its size to work optimally with your sewing needles and threads.
- Use Glue Sparingly: Do not apply too much glue, as this could make it difficult to open and close the clasp.
Not only does this nifty trick make threading needles a much simpler task, but it also reuses materials that would normally be discarded. Try this method and see how it makes your sewing projects easier!
