The bathroom is arguably the hardest room to keep clean and scented in the house. Between normal bad smells, mold growth, and dirt that accumulates there, the window sometimes feels inadequate. The bad odors that emanate from the pipes are nothing more than the product of the decomposition of the organic matter that is trapped there (hairs, soap residues, etc.). However, that’s not all.

A kind of microbial film also forms inside the tubes. Some of these bacteria are resistant to antibiotics and certain disinfectant treatments. Conventional cleaning products are very useful for cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, but they may not be enough to remove all those residues that cause bad odors in our bathroom.

Fortunately, there is a very simple method that allows us to keep toilets constantly clean and scented, and at the same time perfume the entire bathroom: the bottle trick.

All you have to do is fill a plastic bottle with water and floor cleaner. The bottle should be large enough to fit in the toilet water tank.

Once the bottle is full, make a hole in its base with a knife and place it in the toilet cistern. Every time you flush, you’ll release a delicious fragrance.

If you want to adopt a more eco-friendly solution, fill the bottle with water, baking soda, and a few drops of an essential oil of your choice. Shake well and add the ingredients before putting it in the tank.
