Growing mandarins in pots.

Mandarins   are fruits native to South Asia, but their consumption has spread throughout the world.  The tree from which they grow is usually about two meters tall,   but even if you don’t have a garden   you can grow them in pots   . Furthermore, beautiful white flowers grow next to the fruits, similar to the orange flowers of orange and lemon trees, which decorate your home and fill it with life.

Mandarin is best suited to Mediterranean or tropical climates,   but if you live in a cold or freezing location,   growing in pots is a perfect option   because mandarins are more cold-hardy than oranges.

Grow mandarins step by step.

1. Choose a suitable vase   always taking into account the type of   mandarin you have chosen.  Always make sure the bottom contains holes to facilitate drainage.
2. Use soil   rich in organic matter   and small stones in the soil for good drainage.
3. Plant the sprouted seeds or transplant the tree   . Cover the roots and push soil to the sides, being careful not to damage the plant.
4. Place the planter near the window so that sunlight   can reach it.
5. Water the pot   when it feels the first inch of dry depth when it hits the soil. Reduce watering in summer and less in winter.
6. Prune any suckers growing along the trunk   and cut off broken or dead branches at any time.
7. Try to keep your compost rich in magnesium   , zinc and iron.
8. General harvesting occurs between September and January   in the Northern Hemisphere and between March and June in the Southern Hemisphere, but may vary depending on the variety chosen. Tangerines should be harvested carefully to avoid shock or other damage.

Mandarin care.

• Water regularly   and make sure the soil is still there.
• Fertilize monthly to nourish your plant.  An acid-based liquid fertilizer is recommended.
• As your mandarin grows   , you should transplant it into a larger pot.

Care of potted mandarins

They are prone to   root rot   and fungal infections, so it is important to use well-draining pots and be careful not to overgrow them.

Ride.

Tangerines should be fertilized as the fruit develops on the tree.  Use a liquid citrus compost to help the tree produce abundant fruit.

Feed your mandarin in spring and summer to encourage a period of maximum fruiting and flowering.

Once the tree has borne fruit,   you can prune it to keep it neat and manageable.

Remove unhealthy-looking branches and suckers   growing at the base of the plant.

Mandarin pruning allows for greater growth   and increases fruit production for the following year.

If necessary   , cut into the desired shape, remove diseased stems   or improve air circulation.

Remember that the leaves are the life of the tree, so do not cut them unnecessarily, especially before the tree is mature.

Mandarins can be attacked by   aphids, mites, scale insects and whiteflies.

It’s a good idea to check the tree’s leaves regularly, and if you discover any insects, spray the leaves with an insecticidal spray.
