If you do not maintain your electric kettle regularly, it can be affected by scale. This sediment can be dangerous to your health, and shortens the life of the appliance.
Many people think that by being hard and not coming out with any product, nothing happens, but due to the change in temperature they consume particles that they cannot see without realizing it.
And of course, drinking a cup of tea with these types of particles does nothing. The problem is in daily consumption, since these particles can end up being kidney stones.
To avoid this type of problem, let’s see below how to remove scale from the electric kettle. We will need:
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp. of Baking Soda
- 1 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
- Filtered water c/n
- A brush
Procedure
1- To begin, we put the cup of vinegar in the kettle and add the filtered water, filling it to the top.
2- We turn on the kettle and put it at full power. You will notice how little by little the tartar is coming off the walls.
3- When it finishes boiling, throw away the contents and sprinkle the tablespoons of baking soda all over the inside of the kettle.
4- We brush the entire interior of the kettle vigorously. The idea is to take advantage of the heat and humidity to remove the entire layer of tartar.
5- We rinse everything with water at room temperature.
And that’s it, the tartar should come off completely. Now, if you have a kettle that has had tartar for a long time, we have to repeat this procedure about 3 to 5 times.

If by chance you can’t get apple cider vinegar, you can use white vinegar. But instead of 1 cup, we have to use 2, since it does not have the same properties and is not as effective.
For the lid and mouth of the kettle, you can make a paste with equal parts baking soda and vinegar. We apply this paste on top of the tartar and let it act for about 15 minutes. After time, we rinse with warm water.
