To live in a pleasant and healthy environment, cleaning the house is an unavoidable task. Performed regularly, cleaning removes dust, dirt and stains that become embedded in various surfaces. Unfortunately, some detergents sold in supermarkets are full of chemicals that are not safe for health and the environment. If you’re looking to clean your bathroom shower walls and make them shine, here’s a simple and effective trick shared by an Australian mom.
In an eco-responsible logic, many people have decided to change their usual household products for natural alternatives. There are many natural detergents that you should know to disinfect, degrease, descale and polish various surfaces in your home. Check out this Melbourne mum’s revolutionary trick for easily cleaning bathroom shower walls, reports the Daily Mail.
A formidable combo against stains
After trying a variety of products to clean her bathroom walls, one Melbourne mom finally discovered a simple and extremely effective combination: baking soda and bleach. The woman shared her advice on the Mums Wo Cook, Clean and Organize Facebook group.

“The mothers ! I have an amazing tip for you! It only took me a few minutes and very little effort, I couldn’t believe my eyes,” she posted. Although very effective, bleach is a product that should not be mixed with other chemicals, especially vinegar. However, its interaction with baking soda remains safe.
The woman mixed baking soda and disinfectant bleach until it was like a paste. She then used a used toothbrush to remove dirt from the walls.
She was so happy with the result that she wanted to share her experience with other housewives.
Internet users’ reactions
It is commonly believed that baking soda can clean many surfaces. After sharing her information on social networks, the Australian has received several responses. “I’m going to clean everything at home!” responded a woman. Another person said “I know what I’m going to do while the kids are at school.” However, some Internet users have insisted on pointing out the dangers of mixing the two chemicals. “Be careful when mixing chemicals, never mix vinegar and bleach,” one mother warned. In fact, the toxic fumes that chemical cleaners can give off can cause coughing, breathing problems, allergic reactions or chemical burns.
Precautions to take when using bleach
Commonly used to clean the house, bleach should be used carefully. In fact, this chemical disinfectant can sometimes cause household accidents if certain rules of use are not respected:
- Always dilute bleach with water
- Do not mix bleach with an acidic product such as ammonia, vinegar, or a descaler. This interaction can result in the production of a toxic gas that can cause lung damage.
- Avoid putting bleach on your skin at the risk of severe skin reactions.
