9 Grandma’s Remedies That Really Work

A natural remedy or  grandmother’s remedy is a preparation made for medicinal purposes from natural products.

These preparations are so called because they were omnipresent in the time of grandmothers before the massive arrival of medicines.

So it’s up to you to try these 9 grandmother’s remedies:

1 – ALOE VERA AGAINST APHITES

  • It is often said that, whatever you do, a canker sore will make you suffer for nine days, between its appearance and its complete disappearance. However, there are many ways that, if they do not make it disappear, will reduce the pain they cause.
  • Aloe vera is a plant known for its antibiotic and analgesic properties. Used to treat many common ailments, it is less known for its action against canker sores. And yet,  using it as a mouthwash, after having diluted its pulp in a little water, will be of great comfort to you if your mouth ulcer is causing you pain .

2 – REDUCE FEVER

  • Enjoy an infusion of linden flowers, which works in two ways: It stimulates the hypothalamus to better control temperature and it dilates blood vessels, causing sweating.
  • Steep 1 tablespoon of dried linden flowers (available at health food stores) in a cup of hot water for 15 minutes, then sip. Drink three to four cups a day. If you still have a fever after a day of taking this herbal tea, consult a doctor.
  • For a high fever (above 39°C) , take a lukewarm bath, which will simply cool the body to match the temperature of the water. Stay in the water until your temperature drops to 38° to 38.5°C, then drink a linden flower infusion to lower it even further.

3 – MAYONNAISE AS A MOISTURIZING CONDITIONER FOR BEAUTIFUL HAIR

This old-fashioned method works thanks to the fat-to-protein ratio. The oil makes the hair more supple, softer and shinier, and the proteins present in the eggs will make it stronger. Apply mayonnaise to dry hair and leave on like a mask for 15 to 20 minutes. Then rinse off the mayonnaise and shampoo twice. Note that this grandmother’s remedy works best on hair that is neither fine nor too soft.

4 – MAKE-UP REMOVER AND NOURISHING SKIN CARE

Instead of buying makeup remover that is not always very natural and especially not cheap, know that you can use cow’s milk to easily remove your makeup. Once makeup is removed, use full cream or natural yogurt as a nourishing and beautifying treatment for your skin. You will see that your skin will love it! This homemade makeup remover and nourishing treatment made from dairy products is much more effective and good for your skin than most commercially available facial creams and milks.

5 – PEPPERMINT AGAINST MIGRAINES

  • A remedy well known to our grandmothers, peppermint is a natural alternative to aspirin and other ibuprofen. It has analgesic and anesthetic properties.
  • Use peppermint in the form of essential oil: place 2 to 4 drops of peppermint essential oil at the temples and neck and massage in a circular motion, taking care not to come into contact with the eyes. The synergy combining the benefits of massage and the properties of peppermint essential oil should quickly alleviate pain and discomfort.

6 – COCONUT OIL TO HYDRATE THE BODY

All dermatologists will tell you, this grandmother’s remedy works 100%! Coconut oil is essentially made up of saturated fats and fatty acids, which help repair the hydrolipidic film (the skin’s protective barrier) and reduce inflammation.

7 – SOOTH A SORE THROAT

Gargle twice a day with a solution of six pressed garlic cloves mixed in a glass of (lukewarm) water. Follow the diet for 3 days. Research shows that fresh garlic juice has antimicrobial properties that fight bacteria that causes sore throat pain. The warm liquid soothes inflamed tissues.

8 – GREEN CLAY AGAINST INSECT BITES

Green clay quickly relieves itching due to insect bites. Pour half a tablespoon of powdered clay into a container, add a little water there. Mix to obtain a homogeneous paste, which you apply to the bite. Leave on for 15 minutes then rinse with clean water.

9 – TO HAVE WELL-WHITE TEETH

  • After squeezing the juice from an organic lemon, don’t throw away the peel right away! Rub your teeth and gums with the outside of the lemon peel to whiten enamel and strengthen gums.
  • The bark is also an excellent treatment for cleansing and softening the skin. To do this, simply rub the bark on your skin.
  • Leave on for 5 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water. Finally, know that eating an apple with the skin has 2 benefits for your teeth: it disinfects them and massages your gums.
