How to grow celery step by step

Growing celery is quite simple,  you only need the following materials :

  • 1 whole bunch of celery
  • 1 glass container with water
  • 1 medium pot
  • Earth and a little fertilizer

Step by Step:

  1. Take the bunch and carefully cut until you have a base of about 10 centimeters, starting from the bottom up. You can wash the rest of the celery and eat it later.
  2. Now place the base of the celery bunch in a bowl of water. The bottom part should be immersed in the water, but it should barely cover it slightly.
  3. Leave it in a cool but illuminated place and wait between seven and 10 days for you to begin to see the first sprouts of the plant.
  4. Once the first shoots have begun to appear, it is time to take your celery plant directly into the ground, so fill the pot you have chosen 3/4 full.
  5. Being very careful not to mistreat it, clean the plant by removing the old outer stems of the celery and leaving the new shoots free.
  6. Place the celery plant inside the soil and cover without covering the first leaves that have already emerged.
  7. Moisten the soil but do not flood it as this could kill the celery plant.
  8. Once your plant is potted, you should water it about two or three times a week so that the soil stays slightly moist. Try to place it next to the sun’s rays for a couple of hours a day, especially in the mornings.
  9. Finally wait for a couple of weeks until the new stems begin to grow.
  10. Once they reach the indicated size, cut them from the base but do not dig up the entire plant. If you continue with its care, new stems will grow again and thus you will obtain your inexhaustible source of celery at home.
