PINA COLADA RECIPE

The piña colada has a rich, tropical history dating back to the 1950s in Puerto Rico. There are stories that claim the invention of the piña colada in different places and times. Some suggest that it was already served in other places before the creation of Monchito, but its history is the one that has prevailed. The piña colada has evolved over time, and now there are many variants and ways to prepare it. In some places, it is served with crushed ice for a thicker texture, while in others it is mixed with additional ingredients such as banana or strawberries. The Piña Colada is a tropical and refreshing drink that combines pineapple, coconut and rum. Here is a basic recipe to prepare a delicious Piña Colada:

Ingredients: 1 cup fresh pineapple, cut into pieces, 1/2 cup coconut cream, 1/2 cup coconut milk, 2 cups ice, 2 oz (60 ml) white rum, pineapple slices and/or or cherry to decorate (optional).

Preparation: Cut the pineapple into pieces and make sure to remove the core and peel. In a blender, place the pineapple pieces, coconut cream, coconut milk, white rum and ice. Mix all the ingredients until you obtain a smooth and homogeneous mixture. If the mixture is too thick, you can add more ice. If it’s too thick, add a little more liquid (coconut cream, coconut milk, or rum) depending on your preference. Pour the Piña Colada into tall glasses. Decorate the glasses with pineapple slices on the rim and/or a cherry. Serve the Piña Colada immediately and enjoy this delicious and tropical drink. And there you have it! Now you have a refreshing and delicious Piña Colada ready to enjoy. Health!
