Here is a basic recipe to prepare spaghetti with meatballs:
Ingredients:
For the meatballs:
500 g minced meat (beef, pork or a mix)
1 egg
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 cloves of garlic, minced
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Olive oil for frying
Ketchup:
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 chopped onion
2 cloves of garlic, minced
800 g crushed tomato (you can use canned tomatoes)
1 teaspoon sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh herbs such as basil or oregano (optional)
At your service:
400 g spaghetti cooked al dente
Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions:
In a large bowl, mix the ground beef with the egg, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, minced garlic, parsley and Parmesan cheese (if using). Shape the mixture into small, walnut-sized meatballs.
Heat some olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs and brown them on all sides, making sure to cook them completely. Remove the meatballs from the pan and set aside.
In the same pan, add a little more olive oil if necessary and add the chopped onion and garlic. Cook until tender and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
Add the crushed tomato to the pan and mix well. Add the sugar and season with salt and pepper to taste. If you wish, you can add fresh herbs such as basil or oregano for more flavor.
Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the tomato sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
Add the cooked meatballs to the tomato sauce and simmer for a few more minutes to warm through.
Serve the cooked spaghetti on individual plates and cover with the meatball sauce. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh chopped parsley if desired. Enjoy your homemade spaghetti and meatballs!
