For zero waste consumption, it is possible to recycle the peelings. Whether it’s lemon, orange, grapefruit or other citrus fruits, there are several ways to reuse the peels once the juice has been removed from the fruit. In order to benefit as much as possible from their nutrients and beneficial properties, here are ideas for recovering and transforming citrus peels.
1 – USE THE SKIN OF CITRUS FRUITS TO MAKE POTpourri

Do you want to naturally scent your interior? Start making a potpourri! Bitter orange, pink grapefruit, clementine, lime… Many citrus fruits can be used to enhance it. To make your potpourri, take their bark and dry it in the oven for 15 minutes at 200°C.
2 – TO LOWER BAD CHOLESTEROL

Dry and grind the orange peels into powder. Sprinkle the powder on your salads or yogurts every day to lower your bad cholesterol levels.
3 – ORANGE PEEL TO REFRESH THE LAUNDRY!

You fear that your laundry will be impregnated with the smell of humidity. So get some tights and slip some orange peels inside. After which place it on a shelf in the cabinet. The orange will remove bad odors and bring a fresh smell to your laundry.
4 – KEEP AWAY INSECTS AND ANIMALS WITH ORANGE PELS

If your cat has taken a liking to the back of your sofa and scratches there several times a day, you can dissuade him with a natural method without any danger to his health. Cats hate the smell of citrus fruits, which acts as a real repellent.
Boil orange peels in a saucepan, then filter and collect the water. Once it has cooled, place it in a spray bottle and spray the back of your couch, or any other furniture or object that you don’t want your cat near.

5 – A NATURAL FACE SCRUB WITH ORANGE ZEST

This mask also helps reduce spots caused by the sun or skin aging. However, be careful to avoid exposure directly after use.
6 – AVOID BAD BREATH

7 – CLEAN TOUGH STAINS FROM THE MICROWAVE

For the inside of your microwave, there is a tip for removing tough stains (mashed potatoes, tomato sauce, etc.).
Instructions
- Place the peel of a few oranges in a microwave-safe bowl.
- Add water until it covers the peels.
- Heat the microwave at maximum power for 5 minutes. The water will boil with the orange peels. The steam from the water naturally dissolves hardened stains.
- The citric acid in the peels acts on stains by eliminating bacteria.
- At the end of 5 minutes, wipe with a sponge or cloth: the stains can now be removed effortlessly.
8 – USE ORANGE FLATS FOR THE FIREPLACE

For those who have a fireplace at home, this tip will be useful and economical. Once dried, orange peels can be used as a fire starter. Mixed with kindling, you can burn them. Plus you will have a nice smell in the room.
9 – USE BARK TO PREVENT SUGAR FROM CRYSTALLIZING
