Beautifying your nails of course involves a manicure, but that’s not all. Habits to adopt when dealing with damaged nails, the right foods to nourish them… Nails are the mirror of our health and our first business card: clean and well-groomed (or not), they will say a lot about us.
1 – START WITH GOOD HYDRATION
Hydration is the most important step to having beautiful nails (like beautiful skin in general!). By hydrating them, you will make your nails not only stronger, but more beautiful and more resistant. Well fed, they will grow faster! For this, you can use vegetable oils or specific creams. Massaging them will also boost blood circulation and promote the growth of your nails.
2 – USE CASTOR OIL
Castor oil works wonders when it comes to strengthening and repairing nails and hair! To stimulate the growth of your nails, apply it once a day (preferably in the evening) to your nails and cuticles, massaging them gently for 10 to 15 minutes. Choose an organic oil preferably. You also find castor oil under the name “castor oil”.
If your nails are very damaged, you can do an oil bath:
- Mix equal parts castor oil with olive (or argan) oil.
- Add a few drops of lemon juice.
- Soak your nails in it for 10 to 15 minutes.
This treatment should preferably be carried out before going to bed, 3 or 4 times a week. You will quickly see an improvement in the quality of your nails, which will be stronger and more well-groomed. In addition, castor oil has antifungal properties which will prevent fungi and other bacteria from lodging underneath.
3 – LEMON TO WHITEN THE NAILS
We often hear that lemon, like hydrogen peroxide, helps whiten nails, but their effects are ephemeral. If you opt for these solutions, you must be careful not to leave it soaking for too long. The nails can then soften and become brittle! In fact, to effectively prevent yellowing of nails, it is better to avoid smoking (tar destroys the natural flora) or handling any chemical products with bare hands.
4 – FOR PRETTY NAILS, EAT BALANCED!
To have beautiful nails, you need to eat a balanced diet! The latter, in fact, need different trace elements and vitamins to grow in good health. Opt for foods rich in vitamin B (wheat germ, brewer’s yeast, egg yolk), vitamin C (fresh fruits, citrus fruits, green peppers), silicon (vegetables) and proteins (meat). Finally, avoid diets that often cause deficiencies.
