Our mattress often experiences stress, whether it’s dirty feet, accidental spills or sweat stains. It thus becomes a breeding ground for the development of mites and bacteria, which can be harmful to our health without being visible to the naked eye.
This is why it is essential to clean and disinfect our mattress regularly. Fortunately, there is no need to call a professional, as regular maintenance with natural products available at home can be enough, and they are very effective and economical.

To eliminate dust, stains and dust mites that can cause health problems, here are 3 natural methods to dry clean your bedding:
Baking soda :
Baking soda, or sodium bicarbonate, is great for removing stains, deodorizing and disinfecting. It is a versatile ingredient that can be used to clean all surfaces in the home.
To use, sprinkle a sufficient amount of baking soda on the area to be treated or on the entire mattress, then leave for 1 hour. Next, brush the entire surface with a soft-bristled brush using circular motions to dislodge the dust mites from the mattress.
Then vacuum the entire mattress to remove dust, dust mites and baking soda residue. For maximum effectiveness, if possible, take the mattress out into the sun after sprinkling it with baking soda. The sun and white powder will help eliminate bacteria and little critters that invade your mattress. Then vacuum to remove excess baking soda.
Another method is to mix 250g of baking soda with 5 drops of tea tree essential oil, then sift this mixture onto the mattress. After an hour, vacuum and proceed in the same way on the other side of the mattress.
White vinegar:
White vinegar is a star product in household cleaning, and it deserves its reputation. It is a natural disinfectant and antibacterial that our grandmothers always used to polish, disinfect, descale and shine all surfaces in the house. In addition, it can be a good alternative to bleach, which is often irritating to the respiratory tract.
To take advantage of its benefits in cleaning the mattress, especially to eliminate the smell of urine, start by pouring white vinegar into a spray bottle, then spray this liquid all over the mattress. Then sprinkle baking soda to absorb moisture, remove stains and bacteria.
Let it sit for a few minutes before vacuuming. White vinegar combined with baking soda will work wonders for cleaning and disinfecting your mattress.
