Ingredients
FLOUR 1 3/4 cup
SUGAR 2 cups
1/2 cup UNSWEETENED DARK COCOA POWDER
BAKING SODA 2 teaspoons
BAKING YEAST 1 teaspoon
SALT 1 teaspoon
EGGS 2
BREWED COFFEE 3/4 cup
BUTTERMILK 1 cup
VEGETABLE OIL 1/2 cup
VANILLA 2 teaspoons

Preparation :

Just the name of this cake automatically makes me want a slice! The Dark Magic Cake is a super chocolatey, dense and moist cake that is a chocolate lover’s dream. The cake batter is made with buttermilk which gives the cake a subtle flavor. Coffee is also added to the batter, which really brings out the flavor of the chocolate while adding moisture to the cake itself. Any type of chocolate frosting will work beautifully on this cake.

Add the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder and salt to the bowl of a stand mixer. Mix using a paddle attachment.

Add the eggs and coffee to the dry ingredients and mix to obtain a smooth paste. Scrape down sides of bowl as needed.

Slowly add the buttermilk, oil and vanilla to the batter while the mixer is on. Adding liquids slowly will help prevent lumps from forming.

Large two eight inch cake pans.

Divide the batter between the moulds. The dough should be about 3/4 the height of the sides of the pan. Don’t worry if the batter seems a little runny, it should be!!

Bake for 45 to 55 minutes in a 350 ̊F oven or until the center of the cake springs back to the touch. Cool the cakes then frost them with your favorite dark chocolate frosting.
