Fasting recipe (traditional) – Tender and tasty cake (with jam and semolina)

I think it’s one of the best Lenten cakes I’ve made – you just need a few simple ingredients, which you’re sure to have on hand. It is a simple and easy recipe to prepare.

Ingredients needed for the sheets:

  • 11 tablespoons of flour
  • 11 tablespoons of oil
  • 11 spoons of sugar
  • 11 tablespoons of tomato juice, 1 baking powder or a teaspoon of baking soda

Ingredients for the cream:

  • 1 package of cream for cakes (not with milk or eggs) or 2 cups of semolina
  • 1 package of margarine, 250 ml of water
  • 1 cup sugar, lemon essence
  • Coconut
  • Fruit jam

Method of preparation:

  1. We start with the preparation of the top – mix the oil, sugar, flour, tomato juice and bicarbonate or baking powder – you must get a dough that you divide into 4.
  2. The sheets are baked one by one on the back of the tray and then left to cool.
  3. Preparing the cream – put the water, sugar and semolina in a saucepan – when the semolina is cooked, take it off the heat and add the margarine and coconut – mix well and let it cool. You can flavor the cream with a little lemon zest or essence.
  4. If you can find cream for Lent cakes, replace it with semolina.
  5. Place a cookie sheet – semolina cream – sheet – fruit jam – sheet – semolina.

Dust with sugar and serve cold. Good appetite!
